FMLA Final Rule

In February, the Department of Labor issued its Final Rule to Implement Statutory Amendments to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA); the prior amendments expanded protections for military families and airline flight crews. The Final Rule, effective 3/8/13, included modifications to the prior amendments that further expand employees’ leave rights thus it is important for you to familiarize yourself with the regulations. Final Regulations on Essential Health Benefits

In February, HHS issued Final Regulations establishing the standards for coverage of essential health benefits (EHBs). Small employers with non-grandfathered/fully-insured plans now have a blueprint for the core benefits and services that must be offered in 2014. Large employers, employers with self-funded plans and grandfathered plans of any size are not subject to the EHB requirement; however the Final Regulations do address some requirements that apply and will affect them.
